Bonspiels
2009 - 2010 Season Schedule
A bonspiel is a curling tournament, traditionally held outdoors on a frozen freshwater loch. The word comes from the Scots language and means league (or alliance or household) match (or game).
Although Bonspiels originated in Scotland the most notable tournament in the world nowadays is The Brier, the Canadian Men's Curling Championship. For Canadians (the world's premier curling nation), this tournament equals or nearly equals the importance of the Olympics and the World Curling Championship.
During the Montague Curling season there are
different bonspiels that you can sign up for; Opening Season, Touch
of Gold, Business, Fun Spiel, Pink Ladies, and the end of the season
Milk Can Bonspiel. They might not be the most notable but
we can guarantee loads of fun and great competition!
Any club can put a teams in the bonspiels,
if there is room. Contact the office for the information by phone
or email, which is located on the contact page.
